Abstract
852,015. Valve oscillating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO. Ltd. Feb. 19, 1959 [June 4, 1958], No. 17908/58. Class 40(6). An oscillator generator comprises a valve to which is applied a predetermined initial bias voltage, and a second bias voltage proportional to the standing cathode current valve applied in opposition to the first. The output oscillations generated are rectified and fedback to provide additional bias to control the oscillation amplitude. As shown in Fig. 2, an electron coupled crystal controlled oscillator has in its cathode circuit a resistor 21 across which a cathode bias potential may be developed. A negative voltage (e.g. 50 volts) is applied at terminal 18 through a resistor 19 to the point 20, the circuit being dimensioned such that the combined bias on the grid is slightly positive before oscillation commences. The output oscillations are rectified by the diode 14 and applied as negative bias to the grid to control the amplitude of oscillation.
