Abstract

638,683. Pulse generating circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and CRIGHTON, I. G. Nov. 28, 1947, No. 31548. [Class 40 (vi)] In a pulse generator an input pulse is applied between the control grid and cathode of a valve to cause a resonant circuit in the anode to "ring," the resonant circuit having a period which is less than twice the input pulse duration, a first point on the resonant circuit is connected to the anode, a second point to cathode and one output terminal and a third point to the other output terminal so that the potential of the first and third points with respect to the second vary in opposite phase and undesired oscillations at the output terminal are suppressed. Fig. 4 shows a pulse generator in which when positive going pulses are applied at the input terminals T1, T2, the resonant circuit L1, C1 rings and is slightly less than critically damped so that a damped wave train is generated, Fig. 2 (b) (not shown), but due to the suppressing action of rectifier G1 only a single positive going pulse which is narrower than the input pulse is applied to the grid of valve V2. The circuit L2, C2 which resonates at a higher frequency than circuit L1, C1 similarly rings and produces a positive going pulse at the output terminal T3 which is of still shorter duration. Valves V1 and V2 are normally biassed to beyond cut-off in the absence of an input pulse.
