Abstract

902,820. Transistor switching and oscillator circuits; amplitude modulation systems. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 5, 1959 [Jan. 8, 1958], No. 373/59. Classes 40 (5) and 40 (6). A current is supplied from a first transistor to the emitter of a second transistor, the current flowing substantially wholly to the collector or base of the second transistor 2 depending on the relative potential of these two electrodes. The Figure shows a first transistor 1 connected to a stabilizing resistor 3 and arranged as a high impedance supply for a second transistor 2. The collector circuit of the latter transistor includes a coil 9 coupled regeneratively to a tuned circuit 5 in the base circuit of transistor 1 to cause the circuit to oscillate. If the potential of the base of transistor 2 exceeds that at the collector the current is diverted to the base circuit and provides negative feed-back to the tuned circuit through coil 7 so that the oscillation amplitude is limited. Modulation may be effected by modulating the voltage of the supply 10 or the bias voltage applied to terminals 8.
