Abstract

945,654. Automatic control of voltage. MARCONI CO. Ltd. Nov. 15, 1962 [April 25, 1962], No. 15742/62. Heading G3R. In a high-tension supply arrangement, alternating current at a suitable frequency is generated by an oscillator including a transistor VT0 and a resonant transformer connected as shown, an output being derived from a secondary winding S1 and amplified by a transistor VT1, operating in class C, self-biased by the voltage across a reservoir condenser C1 and supplying an output through a transformer having a primary P2 and secondaries 152-452, the secondary 252 being resonant and supplies an output terminal O through a voltage double V1, V2. The secondary 152, having a voltage proportional to that at O, is connected through a rectifier MR to control the current through a regulating transistor VT2 by opposing a set bias from a potentiometer RV so as to maintain constant the output'voltage at O by varying the voltage across the reservoir condenser C1. A resistance R1 limits the dissipation in transistor VT2 and hunting is prevented by a phase correction circuit R2, C2. It is stated that a regulated alternating input can be obtained by the omission of rectifiers V1, V2.
