Abstract

759,511. Electric condensers. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. Oct. 29, 1953 [Oct. 30, 1952], No. 29887/53. Class 37. An electric condenser comprising a thin layer of regenerative conducting material 2, 12 (Fig. 1) of e.g. aluminium or zinc, on a layer of dielectric material 1, 11, has one end built up into a reinforced marginal portion 3, 13 with the same or a different metal. The condenser is formed by assembling layers with reinforcing at alternate edges, and winding into a roll, the thickness a of the reinforced part being less than the distance b of the next layer from the edge, and adding a contact layer of metal at each edge by spraying to allow the addition of leads by soldering. The metal layer and reinforced edge may be produced in a vacuum chamber 20 (Fig. 3) by passing the dielectric material from a spool 21 past a first vaporizer 23 which produces the thin overall layer 2, 12, followed by a second vaporizer 24 which produces the reinforced edge 3, 13 over an area restricted by a mask 241.
