Abstract

746,504. Cathode-ray tubes. ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO., Ltd. July 14, 1954 [Sept. 11, 1953], No. 25235/53. Class 39 (1). The thin dielectric target 5 in an image orthicon is provided with mosaics 13 on both sides; the capacity of the target is thus increased without the necessity of having the collector grid 8 on the image side very near the target. In an example the target may be glass with a thickness of 5 mil. and the grid is spaced 2-5 mils. from it. The mosaics are silver layers of 50 per cent transparency aggregated at 400‹ C. The tube incorporates a conventional multiplier around the gun cathode.
