Abstract
758,318. Inflation valves. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Nov. 28, 1954 [Dec. 24, 1953; March 18, 1954], No. 34476/54. Class 135. A valve body for a tubeless tyre consists of a rubber part 10 with a circumferential recess 14 in which is a rigid ring 11 which is of such length as to stretch the body 10 axially when the latter is inserted in a hole 17 in a wheel rim 18. An axial passage through the body 10 receives a tubular member 12 which is flanged at each end 23, 24 and is adapted internally to receive a conventional inflation valve. The inner part of the passage through the body 10, i.e. towards the end 15, is made initially of smaller diameter than the outer part to provide a better grip on the member 12. In a modification the member 12 has a flange at its inner end only which flange is received in an internal groove in the member 10.
