Abstract

725,775. Connecting valves to wheel rims. FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER CO. Aug. 20, 1953 [April 21, 1953], No. 22964/53. Class 135. The stem 20 of an inflation valve for a tubeless tyre is provided with a non-circular portion 27 which engages in a similarlyshaped hole in the rim (not shown) of the wheel in order that there shall be no relative rotation between the stem and the rim. The base 26 on which the portion 27 is provided is threaded interiorly and engaged by a screwed bolt 29 with the rim of the wheel clamped between them. The head of bolt 29 seats on a rubber washer 33 and is also provided with a socket 32 for manipulation purposes. Air is pumped into the tyre through a passage 40 in the bolt 29.
