Abstract

827,524. Pipe connections. SCOVILL MANUFACTURING CO. May 2, 1956 [May 18, 1955], No. 14393/55. Class 99(1). [Also in Group XXIX] In an adaptor for airtightly connecting a tyre valve to a rim receiving a tubeless tyre comprising a valve stem 12 having an enlarged head 11 within the wheel rim 17, a nut 18 and washer 19, and inner and outer resilient grommets 14, 20 respectively; the face 13 of the head 11 abutting the inner grommet is formed with an annular recess 15 to receive a complementary annular rib 16 on the grommet. The rib and recess may be of any suitable cross-section, e.g. semi-circular or rectangular and the rib may be formed on the head and the recess in the grommet.
