Abstract

794,701. Valves. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Sept. 24, 1956 [Nov. 21, 1955], No. 29086/56. Class 135. An inflating valve for a tubeless tyre comprises a resilient rubber shank 10 having a circumferential groove 11 and a flange portion 15, a slit-type passage way 12 through which an elongated inflation needle may be inserted and two annular recesses 13, and 14, the recess 13 extending under and past the groove 11. The recess 13 is provided to accommodate a special tool for inserting the valve in the opening through the rim, the edges of which engage in the groove 11. The recess 13 also serves, together with the recess 14 to minimize the transmission of compressive stresses to the passage way 12.
