Abstract

864,455. Valves. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. July 25, 1957 [Aug. 17, 1956], No. 25176/56. Class 135. [Also in Group XVII] A non-return valve including a hinged flexible closure flap combined with a supplementary manually - operable closure cap or stopper for use in an inflatable rubberized fabric envelope, comprises a rubber or like valve body having base and stem portions 10, 11, Fig. 1, of differing hardness mergemoulded together. The base portion 10 formed with an arcuate recessed part 13 to which a rubberized fabric valve disc 12 is attached, is sufficiently hard to permit it to conform to the envelope contour whilst providing an effective seat for the disc. The less hard stem portion 11 is formed with a ridge 14 engageable with a recess 17 in the cap 15 which has a slightly tapered plug 16 to provide a supplementary closure. In a modification, the ridge 14 and recess 17 are omitted and a ridge 16b, Fig. 6, is formed on the plug 16a of the cap 15a.
