[Also in Division F2] A non-return valve for an inflatable article such as a bed, cushion, boat, toy or balloon, comprises a nipple 1B, Fig. 1, of resilient material formed with or connected to the article 1 and having a flap 2 within the article adapted to seal the nipple under internal pressure. Initially, the nipple may be formed with an end portion which is almost severed from the nipple to form the flap 2. A plug 1E may be inserted in the nipple as a further precaution against loss of air. To allow air to escape when the article is to be deflated, the nipple is squeezed vertically between finger and thumb. In Fig. 4, the nipple has a flattened portion 3A having a wall of reduced thickness and the edges of which may be pressed towards each other when air is to be allowed to escape.
