Abstract

649,191. Pneumatic tyres. RUNDLE, L. A. Dec. 27, 1947, No. 34312. [Class 144 (ii)] A rubber or like protective liner 2 fitted between the outer cover 8 and air-tube-9 is of larger diameter than the inner tread portion of the cover so that a pucker 4 is formed when the liner is assembled. Creeping of the pucker around the tyre in running is stated to loosen or dislodge foreign bodies which may have penetrated the cover. As shown in Fig. 2, the liner may be formed with outwardly-divergent flaps 6, 6A which are folded inwards, and thereby puckered, in the assembled position shown in Fig. 3.
