Abstract

629,133. Moulding pneumatic tyres. RIDER, G. HINSON-. May 22,1947, No. 13846. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIV] A rubber tyre for small wheels has extensions at the extremities of its side walls, one of which (when the tyre is fitted to a wheel) overlaps the other to provide a non-return inflation valve for the interior of the tyre. Fig. 2 shows a rubber tyre having inwardly extending beads 3, 4, the bead 4 having a tongue 5 which overlaps the inner face of the bead 3. The tyre may be formed with an inflation opening 0 between the opposed faces 6, 7 of the beads 3, 4, or alternatively in the bead 3 below the tongue 5. To facilitate manufacture the rubber tyre may be moulded " inside out" to a shape as shown in cross-section in Fig. 3.
