Abstract

565,477. Wheel tyres. FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER CO. Feb. 6, 1943, No. 2005. Convention date, March 18, 1942. [Class 144 (ii)] The walls of ribs 11, 12, 13, bars 20 or studs or other anti-skid tread elements of pneumatic or other elastic tyres are serrated on all sides, to provide small ribs 16 spaced concentrically with relation to the wheel axis. The serrations of ribbed or barred treads do not extend to the base 14, Fig. 3, of the groove between the ribs or bars. The construction provides a thin yielding edge at the road contacting surfaces and enhances the anti-skid properties.
