[Class 144 (ii)] A tread band for attachment over the tyre proper e is made from a worn oversize cover by cutting away segments of approximately equal size and spacing from the tread a and side-walls b. The band may be fitted in endless form (Fig. 2); or, as shown in Fig. 4, the edges f may be severed and connected by side plates k and bolts m. The tread portions may be fitted with studs d.
