Abstract

401,345. Vehicle wheels. LAMBERT, W. H., 1452, London Road, Norbury, London. May 11, 1932, No. 13608. [Class 144 (ii).] In wheel rims comprising a detachable side flange 7 secured by a split ring 9, a ring 11 adapted to protect the side-wall of the tyre is also secured by the ring 9. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the ring 11 is formed integral with the flange 7. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the ring 11 is damped between the flange 7 and the ring 9. The outer edge of the ring 11 may be lined with rubber &c. to prevent damage to the tyre. When used on vehicles in which the single wheels shown in Figs. 3 and 4 are interchangable with the units of twin rear wheels, Fig. 1, the ring 11 may be bolted to the fixed flange 6 of the outer unit of the twin wheel.
