Abstract

534,136. Wheel tyres. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. Jan. 1, 1940, No. 33. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1938. [Class 144 (ii)] An arch-section rubber tyre 4 has its sidewalls 5 adhesively secured to side rings 1 which may constitute the wheel discs or detachable rimflanges. The side walls of the tyre are arranged clear of the wheel-rim so as to carry the load in shear. In the form shown in Fig. 6, the rings 1 are embedded in the side walls of the tyre. In a further modification, the tyre is formed in sections carried by metal boxes having flanged bases bolted to the wheel rim.
