944,033. Pneumatic tyres. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. April 27, 1960 [May 6, 1959], No. 15465/59. Heading B7C. A pneumatic tyre 1, for use with or without a normal inner tube, is fitted with a safety inner tube which, when uninflated, has its wall concertina-pleated as at 5, Fig. 1, or corrugated as at 7, Fig. 2, in cross-section, and seats in the well-base 3 of the tyre-carrying rim 2, the safety tube being inflatable on puncture of the tyre (or its normal tube) to fill the air space thereof. The safety tube may be circumferentially restrained in the uninflated condition when in use, by a removable or inflation-fracturable band 6 of suitable inextensible material such as paper.
