Abstract

1368742 Valves SCOVILL MFG CO 25 Nov 1971 [3 Dec 1970 5 April 1971] 57443/70 and 8649/71 Heading F2V A valve for a pneumatic tyre of the "woods" type comprises a plug body 2 with a resilient sealing ring 6 adapted to engage an internal shoulder 34 of a valve stem 30, and a distendable rubber sleeve 24 covering the outlets of a diametral hole leading from the axial hole 20. The plug has a tapered portion 22 to allow air flow from the diametral hole when said shear is distended by air pressure and a pair of opposed projections (26, Fig. 1, not shown) at the extremity of the tapered portion to prevent the rubber sleeve from sliding off. In another embodiment the projection is in the form of a radial enlargement having longitudinal passages extending therethrough.
