Abstract

587,861. Automatic tyre inflators. CAMM, F. J. Nov. 27, 1945, No. 1887. [Class 8 (i)] An automatic single-acting air pump, as shown in Fig. 5, for inflating the tyres of road vehicles, is attached to adjacent spokes 2 of the wheel; a non-return valve 13 is provided in the outlet from the pump barrel 1 and an automatic blowoff valve in the pipe 14 opens at a predetermined, pressure. The piston-rod 9 carries at its outer end a grooved wheel 18 which engages with the periphery of a cam disc 20 fixed on the spindle 21 exteriorly of the hub 3. When the pump isnot required to function a bayonet catch 25 locks the wheel out of engagement with the cam disc 20.
