Abstract
758,171. Furnace burners. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. Sept. 28, 1954 [Sept. 28, 1953], No. 27935/54. Class 75(1). In combustion apparatus for utilizing waste fuel common means are provided for supplying combustion air to a plurality of burners discharging through a single port 12 into a furnace 10 and including a first gas ring 50 positioned in the port 12 to provide a flame extending to. wards the port axis and connected to a supply of combustible gas which is normally constantly available, and a second gas ring 40 positioned in the port 12 on the side of the first burner 50 remote from the furnace and provided with a circular series of tubular discharge nozzles 44 discharging waste gas towards the port axis into the supply of air at a zone nearer the axis than the zone of discharge of the first burner 50. The first burner 50 has inwardly directed tubular nozzles 56 which are smaller than the nozzles 44 on the second burner 40. The first burner also has a row of holes 58 and holes 57 drilled in the same row as the nozzles 56. The rings are disposed coaxially in contact and are screened from the furnace by the refractory bricks 52 forming the port 12. A liquid fuel burner 20 of the steam atomizing type is arranged coaxially with respect to the two gas rings. Air is supplied to the port 12 by an air register 60 comprising a cylindrical portion 64 made up of curved pivoted doors 66 adjusted by a hand crank 67. Specification 649,157 is referred to.
