Abstract
756,970. Door stops; hinges. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Dec. 23,1953 [Dec. 27,1952], No. 35781/53. Classes 65 (1) and 65 (2). Means for variably limiting the opening of the hinged door 3 of a refrigerator cabinet comprise a member 19 rigidly mounted on the door and a member 23 rigidly'mounted on the body 2 of the cabinet, said members engaging when the door is opened, and one of said members being adjustably mounted so that the extent to which the door opens before said engagement takes place can be regulated. As shown, member 19, which is plate-like and is secured to the inside of the door, engages a nose 28 provided on the member 23 which is channel-shaped and is adjustably secured to the front face of the body. The lower hinge comprises a hinge pin 6 having a screw-threaded lower end 14 engaged with a nut 15 mounted on a bracket 8 secured to the cabinet body, the upper end of the pin entering a thimble-shaped socket 10 secured to the door, and a ball 16 being interposed between the pin and the socket. The hinge pin 7 of the upper hinge is carried by a bracket 11 secured to the body, and passes downwardly into a thimbleshaped socket 13 secured to the door.
