Abstract

750,657. Air filters. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. April 6, 1954 [April 8, 1953], No. 9995/54. Class 8(2). An air filter of the oil-bath type has a removable filter element 20 to which is secured a baffle disc 24 having projections 56 bearing against an annular baffle plate 22 secured to and within the liquid container 12 below the level 59 thereof ; the baffle disc 24 and plate 22 together extending transversely across the filter casing and bath so as to direct incoming air through the element 20. The baffle 22 has a pan portion 23 and an upwardly extending frusto-conical apertured portion 54 the rim of which abuts the projections 56 of the disc 24 which also has apertures 58. The element 20 is of loose fibrous material held within a cartridge 32 which is secured by spring clips 36 to the lower end 34 of a casing sleeve 14 spaced from an outer apertured shell 28 to provide an air inlet passage 16. Within the upper part of the sleeve 14 is located a second fibrous filter element 18 which discharges clean air through an outlet 68.
