793,662. Air filters. KNECHT, A. Feb. 29, 1956 [March 7, 1955], No. 6299/56. Class 8(2). In an air filter of the oil bath type for connection to the air intake pipe (not shown) of an I.C. engine and comprising a sump-forming cylindrical casing 3 having air inlet apertures 4, a releasable cover plate 5 having a central clean air outlet 14, and a fibrous filter material container 10 annularly spaced from and within the casing 3 and having upper and lower material retaining screens 13, 18, the central portion of the lower screen 18 has a recess 19 into which is tightly pressed an annular collar 20 of a baffle 22 and the upper screen 13 together with the upper out-turned rim of the casing 3 is seamed into the cover plate 5 which also has secured to the outlet 14 an adapter 17 carrying a screw bolt 16 by which the filter is secured to the engine pipe. On releasing catches 7 the sump casing 3 may be detached from the cover 5 and the filter container 10 and baffle 22 held thereby.
