Abstract

825,192. Filters. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Sept. 2, 1957 [Sept. 7, 1956], No. 27648 /57. Class 46. Liquid (e.g. hydrocarbon fuel) to be filtered and freed from water is introduced at 18 and passes first through a demulsifier element consisting of a pleated resin-impregnated fibre member 38, an onion bag cloth 36, a batt of fibre glass or nylon 34 and a perforated metal core 32. Water falls through an opening 68 in a mounting plate 66 and is drained automatically from the bottom of the tank 10. The fuel then passes through a resin-impregnated pleated paper member 50 and a perforated core 48, together forming a filter element 30, and is discharged at 24. Fibre glass bands are secured around the pleated members 38 and 50. The element 30 may be replaced by a washer-type edge filter element or a sintered metal element.
