Abstract

855,068. Liquid filters. ZWICKY Ltd. March 29, 1957 [Dec. 30, 1955], No. 37467/55. Class 46. A filter element consists of a tape of porous paper &c. interleaved with e tape of open mesh textile fabric and wound into a tube, the textile fabric being impregnated with an adhesive which sets as E solid resistant to the liquid to be filtered such as a resin capable of poly merization. A tape of filter paper 1 is wound helically with its edges abutting or overlapping on a former and surrounded by a tape of impregnated fabric 2 similarly wound in the same or opposite sense, its edges in the former case being in staggered relation to those of the paper tape. Several such layers may be used. the paper preferably being of coarser grain in the inner layers than in the outer ones. The filter elements thus produced may be mounted candle fashion in a housing being suspended from a partition 8, disposed between the housing and its cover, by springs 12, the elements themselves being supported internally by weaker springs 11 engaging the partition and bottom caps 6 on which are screwed rods 7 carrying collars 13 to engage the suspension springs 12.
