Abstract

823,648. Filters. AIR-MAZE CORPORATION. Sept. 20, 1957 [Sept. 27, 1956], No. 29615/57. Class 46. [Also in Group XXVIII] A corrugated sheet of filter media 10, Fig. 2, of flimsy construction incapable of self-support is adhesively secured along at least one set of alternate fold lines 11 to a supporting sheet 12 of relatively stiff but flexible foraminous material or to a plurality of spaced strips of such material. Suitable filter media include fibre glass, thin porous paper or cloth and the supporting sheet may be resin-impregnated fibre glass, perforated metal or perforated plastic. The so formed element is readily collapsed as shown in Fig. 7, for packaging and may be wrapped round a perforated cone 20, Fig. 6, with the face fold lines 21 in contact therewith to form a tubular filter element. The support sheet 45, Fig. 11, may itself be bent so as to provide a cylindrical core with the pleats 48 extending radially therefrom and also the support sheet 50, Fig. 12, may be formed into a cylinder with the pleats extending radially inwards. The other set of fold lines may also be bonded to a flat sheet of support material and the generally flat element secured within a closed-sided open-ended frame 60. Fig. 13 formed of overlapping L-shaped members 61, 62, 65 and 66 held together by screws 74, Fig. 15, and 67, Fig. 14.
