Abstract

473,224. Filters. LE BOZEC & GAUTIER. Jan. 1, 1937, No. 73. Convention date, Jan. 6, 1936. [Class 46] Cages 26, Fig. 1, covered with metallic or woven fabric 28 are supported between cheeks or end-pieces 30, 31, held together by a tubular bolt 33, the whole being mounted as a unit on a tubular bolt 18, which holds a vessel 21 against a head-piece 10 having inlet and outlet connections 13, 14. The end-pieces 30, 31 have apertures 39 so that liquid supplied through the inlet 13 reaches alternate spaces between the filtering elements. Filtrate is delivered from the other alternate spaces through conduits 40 in the end-piece 30 to the space between the bolts 33, 18 and thence through apertures 42 in the bolt 18 to the outlet connection 14. A plug 15 at the top of the bolt 18 provides for venting air from the connections 13, 14, and a plug 25 at the bottom of the bolt for the discharge of deposited matter from the vessel. The apertures 39 may be so arranged that the liquid is caused to pass successively through two filtering partitions. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement in which one of the filtrate discharge apertures can be closed from outside by operation of a needle-valve 50, the corresponding filtering partitions being held in reserve for use when the other partitions are clogged. In this arrangement the end-piece of the element is formed as part of the cover of the container.
