Abstract

760,736. Filters. MYRING, A. March 18, 1954, No. 7834/84. Class 46, Oil drawn in at 20 by suction applied at 10 has its rate of flow reduced by perforate baffle plates 33, 34, the upper one resting on a shoulder 40 and both being mounted on a sleeve 39. Water and impurities collect in a sump 8 while the oil passes through holes 47 in the skirt 46 of ar element-engaging bot tom plate 25, the skirl 46 making close con tact with the interior of the casing 2. Oil, air and gas flow inwards through a felt sleeve 22, the air and gas collecting at the upper part of the casing and the oil passing downwards through perforate strengthening discs 31 to holes 14 in an outlet tube 12 integral with the cap 3, egress of air and gas thus being prevented. A gas vent 48 is provided. The tube 12 is closed at the lower end by a rod 15 which serves to secure the cap 3 to the casing 2. The plate 25 is forced against the element 22 by nuts 28, 29. To clean the filter element the bolt 15 is unscrewed, and cover 3, element 22 and plate 25 removed as a unit ; bolt 15 is then replaced. Oil or air under pressure is now admitted to the upper end of pipe 12 and passes radially outwards through the element.
