Class 46 A filter, paper 19 is held down on to a perforated plate 18 resting on an annular seat 16 by a metal ring 21 located within a shoulder 20 and held in place by a spider 23 engaging under lugs 26 and having ring- clamping screws 27. The spider hub 24 provides a deflecting plate for liquid discharged from an inlet pipe 13. Further support for the plate 18 is provided by a slotted tube 31 surrounding an outlet pipe 28 and provided with four radial arms 32 whose ends rest on the bottom 15 of the casing 17.
