Abstract

717,656. Filters. KRACKLAUER, A. C. Dec. 17, 1952 [Feb. 23, 1952], No. 31974/52. Class 46 Filter sheets C, D, are supported by perforated discs A, B, the discs being spaced apart at the centre by a perforate ring (not shown), and the upper one having its outer diameter less than that of the filter sheets so that only the margin a of the lower disc intervenes between the sheets C and D, thus permitting an efficient liquid seal. Perforate rings 36 compress the outer faces of the sheets C, D upon the margin a. A complete filter comprising a stack of such units in a casing is described, compression being applied by a centre bolt and several peripheral bolts. Liquid to be filtered passes inwards through perforations 41 and filtrate from between the discs A, B passes through the perforations in the inner spacing rings. Vertical guide pins (not shown) provided at spaced intervals around the rings 36 and similar to those numbered 52 in Specification 681,415, facilitate alignment of the stack upon assembly.
