Abstract

713,673. Filters. CLARKE-BUILT, Ltd. Oct. 10, 1952 [Oct. 25, 1951], No. 24956/51. Class 46. [Also in Group XXVIII] A filter of the kind comprising a casing supporting a perforated tube surrounded by an envelope made into concertina shape by alternate spreading and constricting elements is characterized in that the envelope is in the form of a closed-bottom bag 2 and that the spreading elements are constituted by solid discs 4 centrally apertured to fit snugly around the supported tube 3 so that the bag is internally divided info a plurality of separate conical compartments 6, each of which communicates with the interior of the tube 3 by at least one perforation 20 in the tube wall. Milk introduced at 11 passes, out through the perforations 20 into the spaces 6, some of the impurities collecting on the solid discs 4 secured to the tube 3. The milk then filters through the filter bag 2 and is drawn off at 21 or 22. Elastic garter rings 5 and ties 7 and 10 are provided. The filtration may be inward.
