Class 46 [Also in Group II] A filter particularly for removing metal particles from oil comprises a perforated inlet tube 5, a magnet 6 within it, and a filtering chamber 3 defined by perforated cylinders 1, 2, the chamber containing a mass, e.g. of impregnated twisted cotton, and several helical magnets 7. The magnets may be arranged with either like or unlike poles adjacent, the former being preferred. Most of the metal particles are removed from the oil by the magnet 6.
