Abstract
796,635. Air cleaners. COOPER'S MECHANICAL JOINTS, Ltd., STREETE, C. M., and FLOYD, F. Oct. 11, 1956 [Nov. 16, 1955], No. 32842/55. Class 8(2). In a gas filter of the oil-bath type having a downwardly directed central dirt-laden gas inlet tube 9 surrounded by one or more filter beds 6, 7 held between the tube 9 and a tube 4 spaced from the surrounding container 1, the tube 4 has a skirt 10 terminating short of the container base and serving to divide the oil bath into inner and outer coaxial portions resulting in the gas stream contacting the central portion but not the outer portion of the oil bath. A perforated conical baffle 13 deflects the gas through the filter beds 6, 7 of knitted wire mesh and cleaned gas is deflected by an arcuate baffle 26 into an outlet duct 18. The outer portion of the oil bath is connected by apertures 25 in the tube 4 with the filter space.
