Abstract

1312634 Cleaning filters A ARCELLI 25 Aug 1970 [10 Sept 1969] 40866/70 Heading BID Filter apparatus, e.g. for dry cleaning machines, comprises a housing 4 in which there is suspended at least one filter hose 9 and a coaxial or axially parallel impermeable open ended pipe 11. Liquid to be filtered enters at 5 and mixes with a filter aid 21 e.g. diatomaceous earth, before passing through the filter, around the bottom of the pipe and out through a top discharge tube 8. Such an arrangement sweeps out any solids trapped within the filter hose. The filter may comprise a tube of braid, gauze or fabric optionally supported on a rigid tube 16 having longitudinal slots 19. More than one pipe 11 may be located within a filter and a filter bottom closure 10 may be permeable to filtrate.
