Abstract

Class 46 The filter unit comprises an apertured guide tube 1, Fig. 1, having apertures 4, and a plurality of similar rings 5 mounted outside, Figs. 1 and 2, or inside, Fig. 6, the tube 1. Each ring 5 has a flat base side and the other side 8 tapering radially inwardly towards the base, a flange 10 extending continuously along and from the base into engagement with the guide tube 1, a plurality of angularly-spaced blocks 9 formed on the tapering side and projecting from it, and spacer parts 6 of calibrated thickness e on the blocks 9 adapted to engage with the flat base of an adjacent ring, the flange 10 co-operating with the tube to define a continuous annular passage providing a flowpath. The spacer parts 6 may be separate and removable from the blocks 9 or (as shown) integral with them. The assembly of rings is secured against a fixed ring or flange 7 by a removable abutment 7.<SP>1</SP>
