Abstract

563,832. Strainers. McKEAN, J._ G. May 11, 1943, No. 7462. [Class 46] In. a strainer for liquids having a cylindrical screen .adapted to be cleaned, during the normal straining operation, by reversing the flow of liquid through different portions of the screen in succession, the screen 14 is carried by a cylinder 2 formed with vertical slots 13, and a chamber 19 having an opening corresponding to the slots, is provided in an arm 18 adapted to be rotated continuously for bringing the chamber into register with each slot in succession. A disc 24, provided with radiallymovable spring-pressed blades 25, is secured on the operating spindle 15 of the arm 18 in an eccentric chamber 9 and is rotated by liquid flowing from an outlet 22 in the chamber 19 through an annular groove 21, a port 23 and the chamber 9 to a port 27 connected to a suction pipe.
