Abstract

970,826. Strainers. LANCASTER & TONGE Ltd. June 21, 1963 [July 19, 1962], No. 27709/62. Heading BID. A strainer of the type consisting of a cylindrical casing A having an inlet a<SP>1</SP> and an outlet a<SP>2</SP> opposite one another and divided by a plate C<SP>1</SP> which is inclined upwards from below the inlet to above the outlet, the plate having an aperture c, the edges of which support a basket D for collecting solids contained in liquids which pass therethrough is characterized in that the peripheral edge of the plate is secured to a sleeve C rotatable in the cylindrical casing about its vertical axis, the sleeve having two opposite ports c<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>2</SP> either of which can be brought into alignment with the inlet or outlet by rotating the sleeve through 180 degrees. In the embodiment shown rotation of the sleeve is effected through handwheel E.
