748,382. Two-part couplings. ALEXANDER, D. B., BOURKE, E. R., CHAMBERLAIN, H. T., MANNION, J. F., SCHNEIDER, E. W., WADE, W. A., VRTIS, C. S., and GARY, L. J. Oct. 27, 1953, No. 29680/53. Class 38 (1). In a plug and socket connecter, the socket body 50 has an annular trough 56 against the sides of which lie concentric rings of spring blade contacts 60. The contacts have bowed portions 90 and the outer ends thereof are bent over to lie in pockets 94, 96 to prevent undue movement. The inner ends pass through apertures 62 and are off-set against shoulders 82 to secure the contacts in position. The plug has an annular ridge 22 adapted to fit in the trough 56 and blade contacts 24 with bentover ends located in recesses 32 are positioned on either side of the ridge to engage contacts 60. Ribs 84, 86 between contacts 60 and ribs 40, 42 between contacts 24 co-operate to form individual enclosures for the pairs of engaged contacts. The face of the plug carries a pair of locating pins 100, 102 of different diameter and slightly off-set diametrically which cooperate with correspondingly located socket members on the socket.
