Abstract

745,526. Pipe couplings. NAPIER & SON, Ltd., D. Sept. 1, 1953 [Sept. 2, 1952], No. 22028/52. Class 99(1). In a joint in which a spigot 12 and socket 13 have interengaging cylindrical surfaces, a sealing ring 16 occupies a groove in one of them, and the joint is secured by a transverse locking pin having a U-bend 18, Fig. 3, and a pair of parallel prongs 19 which engage abutments on spigot and socket. As shown, the prongs engage an annular groove 15 in the spigot and pass through holes in the socket. Aligned pipes each having a terminal spigot are connected by a sleeve or block having a pair of aligned sockets. Eight pipes 27, Fig. 4, have spigots 26 engaging in sockets in a common terminal block 24. The pipes are arranged in pairs, each pair being secured by a single locking pin 28. Eight aligned pipes are similarly connected to the opposite side of the block.
