Abstract

563,190. Pipe joints. K.D.G. INSTRUMENTS, Ltd., YEOELL, A., and MACK, F. Jan. 22, 1943, No. 1168. [Class 99 (i)] In a joint in which valves 21, 31 are lifted from their seats by engagement of their stems when the coupling members 10, 14 are screwed together, sealing is effected before the valves are opened by a resilient sleeve 18 surrounding the nipple 15 and having flanges 20 which engage the coupling member 14 and the base of the socket 10. To ensure the opening of both valves, the stems of either will engage the plugs 25 or 30 if one only is opened before the member 14 is fully screwed home.
