744,234. Inductors. KASCHKE, K., and VOGT, H. Nov. 19, 1951 [Nov. 17, 1950 ; Dec. 16, 1950; Dec. 19, 1950; Jan. 12, 1951 ; Jan. 13, 1951 ; June 14, 1951], No. 27132/51. Class 38 (2). A magnetic core for a telecommunication coil comprises a part passing through the coil made of sintered ferrite and another part or parts made of ferrite powder or iron powder compressed with a binder, or a mixture of such materials. Thus, a reel-shaped core comprises a sintered ferrite stem with end lugs engaging recesses in end discs of compressed iron powder, Fig. 1 (not shown). A pot core comprises a sintered iron cylinder 25 which screws on the plastic coil holder 27 to a selected distance from a sintered ferrite disc 30, a flexible plastic stop ring 31 being provided, Fig. 2. Other cores are described having parts fixed together by thermoplastic moulding, by screws of which the threads are moulded on to layers of sintered ferrite, Fig. 4 (not shown), and by gluing. In a band-pass filter, Fig. 9, two coils 166, 167 with core parts 168, 169 of sintered ferrite, 170, 171, of compressed iron or ferrite powder and 182, 183 movable to vary the inductance, are mounted on supports 172, 173 in threaded engagement with a ring 176. They are moved to and from each other by rotation of the ring by a tool passed through an opening 181 in a screening can 180.
