Abstract
739,018. Photographic product and process. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORPORATION. July 15, 1953 [July 16, 1952], No. 19638/53. Drawings to Specification. Class 98 (2). Ammonia or a volatile amine such as diethylamine, triethylamine, diisopropylamine, allylamine or ethylamine is used to provide all or part of the alkalinity in the process in which a single application of liquid to an exposed silver halide emulsion layer develops exposed areas and produces a corresponding reversed image in a receiving element in contact with the emulsion during development, whereby evaporation from the element after separation from the emulsion reduces residual alkali and thereby avoids instability of the image therein. The ammonia or volatile amine may be included with the processing liquid in a sealed liquid-dispensing container of the type described in Specification 684,592, and such container may be introduced between or provided within the silver halide emulsion layer and the image receiving element, whereby the liquid may be dispensed and spread between the layers after exposure by application of pressure to the assembly. The reversal methods of Specifications 703,231 and 714,412 may be used. Example 1 specifies a water solution of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, diethylamine, sodium hydroxide, sodium sulphite, sodium thiosulphate, hydroquinone, metol and chlorobenzotriazole as processing liquid. Examples 2 and 6 specify similar mixtures using diethylamine and example 5 a mixture in which the only alkali is ammonia. Specification 684,591 also is referred to.
