Abstract

1,079,227. Photographic silver salt diffusion processes. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORPORATION. April 14, 1965 [April 27, 1964], No. 16053/65. Heading G2C. An opaque photographic developing composition for the silver salt diffusion process comprises an aqueous alkaline medium containing a silver halide developing agent, a silver halide solvent, lithium ions derived from lithium hydroxide and/or a lithium salt in an amount of 1 to 7% by weight calculated as lithium hydroxide and 0.25 to 15% by weight of carbon black. Lithium salts mentioned are the nitrate, chloride, sulphate and carbonate. The composition may also contain a viscosityincreasing agent such as hydroxy-ethyl cellulose or sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, and gum arabic. A film pack containing a light-sensitive silver halide element having an opaque support, a print-receiving element optionally having an opaque support and comprising a siliceous layer containing a silver-precipitating agent, and a pressure-rupturable container retaining the above opaque processing composition is also described, the print-receiving element of which may be coated with a gum arabic layer to facilitate stripping. The processing of the film pack may be effected outside the camera while exposed to actinic radiation.
