Abstract

882,964. Photographic reproduction. GENERAL ANILINE & FILM CORPORATION. Jan. 11, 1960 [Jan. 14, 1959], No. 992/60. Classes 98(1) and 98(2) An original is copied on to a material having a coating of a photochemically inert substance which becomes light-sensitive when activated by an aqueous solution of a silver salt, by applying said aqueous silver salt solution to the coated material, exposing to the original, and fixing the image produced by heating. The photochemically inert substance may be zinc oxide or aluminium oxide and it may be coated in a binder such as gelatin. It may be mixed with zinc sulphite or nitrite, or with sodium formate or oxalate. The silver salt may be the nitrate, nitrite, acetate, benzoate, fluoride, lactate, p - phenolsulphonate, picrate, selenate, selenite, sulphate, sulphite or thiosulphate. As shown, a roll of coated material 20 is sensitized by rollers 39, 40 dipping into a bath 28 of aqueous silver salt. In the embodiment shown, exposure takes place under platen 50 by projection from an original 66, but exposure may be by contact. The image produced is fixed by the heating element 68.
