Abstract

1,030,612. Photographic light-sensitive materials and processes. KODAK Ltd. Feb. 20, 1963 [Feb. 20, 1962], No. 6918/63. Addition to 930, 572. Heading G2C. A light-sensitive material which is developable by the action of heat alone comprises a silver halide emulsion and, in the emulsion or an adjacent layer, an alkaline substance and at least 5 g. per mole of silver halide of a 3-pyrazolidone developing agent, and is provided with a transparent water-resistant layer over the sensitive side. The transparent layer may be a coating of polyvinylidene chloride a polyvinyl ester, or a polyester, or it may be a pre-formed self-adhesive cellulose acetate or regenerated cellulose sheet. The alkaline substance may be a metaborate. In the examples, the emulsion layer also contains sucrose, ascorbic acid, sodium sulphite, potassium bromide and 1-phenyl-5-mercapto-tetrazole. The development rate may be increased by including sodium thiosulphate in the sensitive material.
