Abstract

1344525 Photographic silver halide material containing a beta-disulphone EASTMAN KODAK CO 27 May 1971 [1 June 1970] 17622/71 Heading G2C A photographic silver halide material contains a #-disulphone in a layer of the material in an amount sufficient to stabilize it after exposure and development, on activation by an alkali. The #-disulphone is preferably a 1, 1-bis (sulphonyl) alkane and may be bis (methyl- or ethyl-sulphonyl methane. Others are listed. The material preferably contains 2-10 moles of #-disulphone per mole of silver halide, and may contain a silver halide developing agent. The #-disulphones do not desensitize a silver halide emulsion or stabilize the emulsion prior to development but on alkaline activation they act as effective stabilizers
