Abstract

1374806 Isothiuronium in photographic materials and compositions EASTMAN KODAK Co 1 Dec 1971 [2 Dec 1970] 55788/71 Heading G2C [Also in Division C2] Compounds of the formula:- in which R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are C 1-5 alkylene, Y is O, S or NHCONH, n is O or 1, X<SP>m</SP> is an anion and m is 1 or 2, or hydrates thereof (see Division C2) give on heating an alkaline substance and a photographic silver salt stabilizing agent, and are used in photography, viz: (1) in a supported layer containing a photographic silver salt (Ex. 15-22), or in a layer adjacent to such a layer; either of such layers may also contain a silver halide developing agent, and the silver salt-containing layer may be a layer of a photographic silver halide emulsion; if the photographic material contains a developing agent, it may be exposed and heated to develop and stabilize the image (Ex. 15-22); (2) in a supported layer containing a diazonium salt and a coupler (Ex. 24), or in a layer adjacent to such a layer; the material may be exposed and heated to form a dye image; and (3) in a photographic silver salt processing composition containing a silver halide developing agent. Heat-processable silver halide emulsions containing sucrose, mannitol or sorbitol are described in Examples 15 to 19 and 21.
