Abstract

1,257,493. Coating photographic layers. EASTMAN KODAK CO. April 3, 1969 [April 8, 1968], No. 17496/69. Heading G2C. A photographic silver halide recording element contains at least two coated hydrophilic colloid layers, at least one being an emulsion layer and at least one layer containing as a coating aid a compound of the formula:- wherein R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical of 7 to 21 carbon atoms e.g. lauryl, cetyl, myristyl, the compound being present in an amount from 0À07 to 1À00g per pound of coating solution. The coating aid is especially useful for plural wet-onwet coating and may be employed in an overcoating over a silver halide emulsion layer.
